PLATFORMS:
Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP

DESCRIPTION:
How do you keep files private on a computer that anyone can sit down and use? ShellCrypt offers a two-tiered solution: encrypt the file and hide the filename. Encryption is done using Blowfish algorithm, and filename hiding is optional. To encrypt and hide a file, simply right-click on the file in Explorer and select ShellCrypt's Encrypt and hide command. ShellCrypt will prompt you for a password, and then perform the encryption. To decrypt a file, double click on the file in Explorer, or select the file and choose Decrypt and unhide from the ShellCrypt menu. You can reveal the filename while leaving the file encrypted by choosing Unhide from the ShellCrypt menu. You can find a list of the files you've encrypted and their original names on the Encryption log page of the Configuration dialog, which can only be accessed with a password. A variety of protections prevent you from encrypting crucial system files.
